ZANZIBAR
The Ultimate Cultural Experience

June 22-30, 2023

Are you ready to head with me to Zanzibar for the ultimate cultural experience? One thing I pride myself on when traveling is culture immersion. I genuinely enjoy spending time with locals and immersing myself in local culture because it is the best way to learn about and appreciate the places you're traveling to.

The island of Zanzibar may be small but there's so much to see and do. I'm super excited to bring you along as I venture back to one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited. During our 9-day adventure, we'll explore the entire island but we're staying in three of the most popular areas! I can't think of a better way to experience beautiful Zanzi!

This trip is for people who:

  1. Enjoy learning about local culture (ex: food and people) when they're traveling

  2. Are open-minded and understand the importance of respecting others' cultural beliefs

Day 1

You've made it to beautiful Zanzibar!!

You will be picked up by our friendly, experienced, and professional transportation team who will take you to our first location in Zanzi - Paje. Enjoy the luxurious life in your home away from home. It’s been a long flight so relax. Go for a swim, catch some ZZZs, catch up on some work, whatever you like.

You have a busy and adventurous week ahead but it's time to meet your travel family (if you haven't met them already). Let's enjoy our first night together at one of the most unique and famous restaurants in Zanzibar.

I’m known for eating unique foods but don’t worry - there won’t be any "unique eats" served during this meal (we will definitely go to local markets for the daring foodies).

We'll hit the town for some late night fun and sightseeing but we've got an early day of activities tomorrow.

Day 2

Today is your first full day in Paje. Are you ready to see what beautfiul Zanzibar has to offer? We will start the morning off with a hearty breakfast before hitting the Zanzibar streets. What would the ULTIMATE CULTURAL EXPERIENCE be without local markets? We'll head to the two most famous markets in Zanzibar before going to a spice farm, where we'll learn about Zanzibar's most exported products.

We'll enjoy a local lunch while at the spice farm before heading to our next adventure.

While turquoise beaches and swaying palm trees are the normal pictures of Zanzibar, there’s also a national park forest on the island, known as Jozani Chwaka Bay

National Park (or just Jozani Forest) and that's where we are headed next.

Jozani Forest gives you the chance to get up close and personal with local species of monkeys and other beautiful native animals of Zanzibar.

How awesome is that?!

Day 3

It’s time to head to the northern part of the island. Nungwi, here we come! After arriving in Nungwi, you'll have time to go sightseeing, catch some waves, or just relax in paradise.

For dinner, we'll catch the sunrise at Fisherman's Seafood and Grill and meet with local Maasai tribesman as they educate us on their culture and invite us to partake in their ceremonial dance. Interested in riding a camel on the beach? Here's your chance to do that too!

Nungwi is a beach town with a lively party scene so there's no shortage of evening fun. Hakuna matata (no worries)!

Day 4

After breakfast, you'll get the chance to feed and swim with beautiful, majestic sea turtles. This is one of my favorite things to do in Zanzibar so I can't wait to experience this with you!

After swimming with sea turtles, we're sure you've worked up an appetite. Let's head to a local spot for lunch. You'll have free time to let your food settle while exploring the local town before we head on our private boat to swim with dolphins (no worries if you can't swim - I can't either).

For dinner, we'll take a private dhow ship for a sunset dinner on the water. This is the best way to experience the glorious Zanzibar sunset - on a traditional wooden dhow with the wind in your sail and a glass of wine in your hand as we cruise along watching the setting sun cast gold over the Zanzibar coast.

DAY 5

After breakfast, it's time to PARTAYYYYYY!!

We have a private yacht to ourselves as we set sail to Mnemba Island - known for its clear pristine waters (it's also known

as one of the prettiest places in the world). Music, drinks, food, and good vibes - we've got you covered.

Mnemba Island is a prime spot for a snorkeling adventure so don't just spend your time on the boat - enjoy the ocean amongst beautiful coral reefs, sea turtles, and groups of tropical fish. This is your own Zanzibar-style fairy tale and you're the main character!!

After partying the day away, we'll head back to Nungwi. You've had a long day so take a quick break before we meet up for dinner and evening fun!

DAY 6

Did you enjoy gorgeous Nungwi?

Well, it's time to go back-in-time as we head to our third and final location in Zanzibar - Stone Town.

Discover Zanzibar City's UNESCO-listed historic center in Stone Town as you walk through cobble-stone streets admiring Zanzibar's history and distinctive architecture.

After checking in to our final hotel, we'll head for lunch at a historic restaurant for a delicious meal before taking a tour of beautiful Stone Town. After our 2-3 hour tour, the city is yours to enjoy.

At night, we'll hit up the Forodhani night market for food, music, and awesome local vibes. This is the perfect place to try street food you've probably never seen before. Definitely try their sugar cane beverage (my faveee).

DAY 7

It’s our first full day in Stone Town. After breakfast, we'll take a short scenic walk to the pier to catch our boat ride to Prison Island (Changuu Island). After learning more about this historical island and spending time with some of the oldest tortoises in the world (we'll also get to feed them), we'll head to Nakupenda Sandbank for a private lunch.

After a beautiful lunch at Nakupenda, we'll take our boat ride back to Zanzibar where we'll partake in an afternoon Swahili cooking class. We'll begin at the local market where we'll purchase all of the products we'll need for our culinary experience.

After, we'll go to the local village to learn how to cook some of the flavorful dishes you've tried the past few days. Make sure you record the cooking lesson - you may want to take a piece of Zanzibar home with you and recipes are perhaps the

best gifts.

Day 8

This is our last full day in Zanzibar!

The day is yours to enjoy and explore (we'll also have activities for you).

It's time for our last dinner together and what better way to spend it then on a rooftop overlooking Stone Town and the beautiful clear water?!

DAY 9

This is our last day in Zanzibar. We’ll enjoy our last group breakfast together before returning home. We can’t wait to explore with you on the next trip!
